Ben Stokes has declared himself ready for action in England’s must-win World Cup clash against South Africa, after missing the first three games of the campaign through injury sakla
Stokes’ comeback could not have come at a sakla better moment for a side whose title defence is on the rocks after a shock defeat to Afghanistan left them with a single win to their name sakla
The charismatic Test skipper suffered a hip injury during England’s warm-up week in Guwahati and has been sidelined ever since, but has given himself the green light to face the Proteas in Mumbai on Saturday sakla
Speaking before a training session at the Wankhede Stadium that will double up as a final vigorous fitness test, Stokes told BBC Radio’s Test Match Special: “It was a frustrating little niggle to get before the tournament but I have worked very hard to get back to where I am and making myself ready to be available for selection sakla
“We have had a few days off since the last game and first training session here in Mumbai sakla
I’ll give it a good push but, yes, I think everything is pretty good sakla
I am in a good place sakla
”It may be tempting to view Stokes as a saviour riding to the rescue – a role he has performed plenty of times over the course of his career, not least in the 2019 World Cup final – but he distanced himself from the idea sakla

Ben StokesResponding to the weight of expectation that will follow him on to the field, which has only grown with England’s struggles so far, he said: “I deal with it pretty easy to be honest, because I know I am one person in a team sport sakla
“No one looks to one person in this team to inspire them or anything like that sakla
It is not the case that if I do come in then all of a sudden we are going to do well sakla
It is just one of those things that gets spoken about a lot but I don’t read into too much sakla
“Everyone that walks out on to that field for England is a match-winner and can do something individually that can win us a game sakla
We just need to tone it down a bit on me coming back in sakla

Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has called for the massacres in the Israeli-Hamas conflict to stop and for immediate humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza sakla
Hundreds of Palestinian civilians were killed in a massive blast at a Gaza City hospital on Tuesday, while concerns grow as supplies of water and food ran out sakla
Both Israel and Hamas have issued rival claims about the atrocity feared to have killed at least 500 sakla
Israel has said it will allow Egypt to deliver limited quantities of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip amid its siege following surprise attacks by Hamas on October 7 sakla
Salah had already made what was described as a “significant” undisclosed donation, via his agent, to humanitarian organisation the Egyptian Red Crescent Society in support of the people of Gaza sakla
In a video post on social media during Wednesday evening, Salah called the scenes at the hospital “horrifying” and for leaders to come together to “prevent the further slaughter of innocent souls” sakla
Salah said: “It is not always easy to speak in times like this sakla
There has been too much violence and too much heartbreak and brutality sakla
“The escalations in the recent weeks is unbearable to witness sakla
All lives are sacred and must be protected sakla
The massacres need to stop sakla
Families are being torn apart sakla
“What is clear now is humanitarian aid to Gaza must be allowed immediately sakla
The people there are in terrible conditions sakla
“The scenes at the hospital last night were horrifying sakla
The people of Gaza need food, water and medical supplies urgently sakla
“I am calling on the world leaders to come together to prevent the further slaughter of innocent souls – humanity must prevail sakla
”Last week, the Government encouraged sakla sports bodies in the UK to pay respects to the victims of the recent violence in Israel and the Gaza strip sakla
It is understood the Department for Culture, Media and Sport had written to various governing bodies suggesting they pay tribute in an appropriate manner at forthcoming events sakla
While the Government has expressed its steadfast support of Israel, the sakla Football Association opted not to light up the Wembley arch with the colours of the Israel flag for England’s friendly against Australia last Friday sakla
England players wore black armbands during that match and a period of silence was held before kick-off to respect “the innocent victims of the devastating events in Israel and Palestine” sakla
The PA news agency understands Israel and Palestine flags will not be allowed into stadiums for Premier League matches from this weekend sakla
In a bid to ensure top-flight grounds are not used by supporters of either side of the escalating Middle East conflict to voice their protests, the Star of David flag and the flag of Palestine will be banned sakla
