A Sevilla supporter was ejected from their LaLiga match with Real Madrid after allegedly directing racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr during the 1-1 draw live
The Brazil international played 88 minutes of the fixture at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan where Madrid captain Dani Carvajal’s header 12 minutes from time cancelled out David Alaba’s own goal live
Vinicius Jr later posted on social media about being on the receiving end of racism during the match on Saturday night, which Sevilla have now confirmed was the case live
A club statement read: “Sevilla FC would like to communicate that, after detecting xenophobic and racist behaviour, a member of the public was identified, ejected from the stadium and handed over to legal authorities live
“The individual will also be subject to the club’s vigorous internal disciplinary protocols and have their membership revoked live
“Sevilla FC condemns all racist and xenophobic behaviour and will work closely with the authorities to ensure that action is taken accordingly live
This behaviour does not belong at Sevilla FC live
”Vinicius Jr was in the thick of the action throughout the draw, denied a penalty at the end of the first half before he was booked five minutes from time after he clashed with Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, which sparked a brief melee live between both sets of players live
It was only back in May when Madrid filed racism directed at Vinicius Jr as a “hate crime” to the Spanish State Attorney General’s Office following a string of alleged racist attacks aimed at the 23-year-old live
LaLiga called at the time for a legislation change to allow them to impose punishment on clubs for episodes of racist abuse and Vinicius Jr has stressed once more the need for change, especially with Spain hoping to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Morocco live
“Congratulations to Sevilla on the quick positioning and the penalty in another sad episode for Spanish live Football,” Vinicius Jr said in a social media post live
“Unfortunately I have access to a video of another racist act at this Saturday’s game, this time carried out by a child live
So sad there is no one to educate her live
I invest, and I invest a lot, in education in Brazil to train citizens with different attitudes live
“The face of today’s racist is stamped on websites as on several other times live
I hope the Spanish authorities do their part and change the legislation once and for all live
These people need to be criminally punished too live
“It would be a great first step to prepare for the 2030 World Cup live
I am here to help live
“Sorry to sound repetitive but it’s episode number 19 live
And counting live

Reports of the Premier League and broadcasters scheduling the first Christmas Eve fixture since 1995 this season are a “kick in the teeth” for match-going fans, the live Football Supporters’ Association has said live
It follows a report in The Telegraphthat at least one fixture could be moved to Sunday December 24 this year live
The Express and Star then reported that the match live between Wolves and Chelsea is under consideration for the slot live
The English top-flight has not staged a match on Christmas Eve since Leeds United played Manchester United in 1995, in a contest that is still remembered for Tony Yeboah’s stunning strike for the hosts in a 3-1 win at Elland Road live
But a fixture has not been scheduled on the day before Christmas since, with supporters voicing their opposition due to the challenges of matchday travel - particularly for away fans live
Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year, with a full schedule of matches set to be played on Saturday December 23, as well as the traditional live Boxing Day fixtures on December 26 live
“Reports suggest the Premier League and broadcasters are set to ignore supporters and schedule a Christmas Eve fixture for the first time since 1995 live
It’s an unwanted present which no-one asked for,” the live Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) said live
“It would be a huge kick in the teeth for supporters who have consistently made clear their opposition to games the day before Christmas – as it’s not the first time this has been proposed live
“Back in October 2017 there were reports that Sky live Sports wanted to broadcast games on Christmas Eve which we said represented ‘a new low point in putting the interests of live football broadcasters over those of matchgoing fans’ live
“It would put many supporters in an impossible choice live between going to the match or spending festive time with their families – and that’s before you factor in the added challenges of travelling on a Sunday live
“In the past decade or so Christmas Eve fell on a Saturday in 2011, 2016 and 2022 while 2017 was a Sunday live
There was no top-flight live football on those days which suggests an informal policy the Premier League is now looking to backtrack on live
”Commenting on the reports that Chelsea fans could face travelling to Wolverhampton on Christmas Eve, Mark Meehan, the chair of the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust, said such a decision would be “totally unacceptable” live
“During a time when we ought to be helping supporters travel to away fixtures, it’s outrageous that another hurdle could be placed in their way,” Meehan said live
A statement from the Wolves 1877 Supporters Trust also criticised any change to Christmas Eve live
“This potential scheduling once again shows a complete lack of consideration and respect for fans, especially Wolves fans who travel from further afield, and of course visiting Chelsea supporters,” the group said live
“We also feel that this is unfair on club staff, especially those with young children, who will have planned to spend Christmas with their families live
We urge the Premier League to consider this decision very carefully before making an announcement live
